On Two Wheels Again!

I’ve been looking forward to this day all winter long… Today was special. Today was welcome. Today was a day that will go down in history unsurpassed and legendary. Today was the first motorcycle ride of the season.

In all seriousness, it’s been such a long winter and rainy spring that I’ve been chomping at the bit to get back on two wheels. Well, I cashed in some overtime and took the day off work to have myself a two wheeled adventure. Here’s the lowdown.

This morning I picked up Adventure Machine from the dealer where it had hibernated all winter. After a slow circle check, I hopped on and pointed the front wheel north.

On the way I stopped by a local Timmies. No ride starts without the obligatory double double.

The highway was mostly clear of sand and gravel from the winter. Potholes, however, were an issue. They were numerous and some were quite large. A few times I had to swerve to avoid them. Nothing like the fear of spectacular death to keep you alert!

The back roads were a different story. The closer to Spruce Lake I got, the more sand appeared on the road. I had to take these curves gently or risk testing out my safety gear.

Although we’ve been snow free in the city for a couple weeks now, Spruce Lake is still under about 2-3′ of snow. It’s gonna be a while before everything is fully thawed.

There’s a lake behind those trees, promise!

While it wasn’t a spirited ride, it was thoroughly enjoyable. Adventure Machine runs perfectly and I played with some different ways to mount an action camera. I can’t wait to go on some adventures and post them for you here.

What better way to spend a day away from work than a ride through the hills? I just hope my boss doesn’t find out about this blog.
